Query re right to return items

Options
Hi all
I was hoping someone might be able to advise me of whether it is worth making a complaint over this matter. I bought a number of items from an oasis store a week and a bit ago. The receipt states clearly that items can be returned within 28 days to any oasis store. The items are as new in mint condition as purchased.

So I went to a store that was convenient for me. This was not the store that I purchased the goods, as that store did not have other shops nearby that I also needed to go to that particular day. So I went further afield to kill 2 birds with one stone - return the goods and pick up the shoes I had on hold in another store. I was told that the system allowing returns from other stores was not working that day (and had not been for a number of previous saturdays) so they could not return the items, despite me having a receipt to document purchase and which corresponded to the items purchased. My uncle then offered to return them to our local store when he was in town the following day, as I work quite long hours and was concerned that it was a large amount of money tied up on these items. He has then been told that he cannot return them for me as it needs to be my signature - even though I have previously returned items for other people, and my mum has returned items for me before also. So again I have been refused a refund. I would probably have accepted either reason alone, but to be refused a refund on two separate occasions is really annoying, particularly as I dont know when I'll next get in to the store and have money tied up in the mean time.

I wanted to complain, particularly about the faulty IT system which meant I could not refund the items myself the first time. Because when the receipt clearly states the refund process I dont feel it should be my problem when they have a faulty system, particularly when they have known about it for a number of weeks and weekends are the busiest period. But I dont know if I'm just being unreasonable because of the inconvenience of it! The problem is with various commitments I have on I dont actually know when I'll next find time to go back myself. Any advice please??

The IT problem is just one of those things. Dont see that they could have helped that, these things happen.

If its company policy that the signature of the card holder is required then you cant get away from that one either.
Cant blame them really when you think what cuold happen, stolen cards, shoplifters returning stolen goods/

I think you will just have to make time. They are doing you a favour by allowing returns, its company policy as in their terms and conditions. Its not the law for them to take back items that you have just changed your mind about.
Just suck it up and make time to go back.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
