My Tom tom Sat nav has packed up (16month old) I've only used it 25-30 times. It keeps freezing then rebooting up.
I have spent the last 3 afternoons with Tomtom technical support on the 'phone whilst the Tomtom is connected to the computer.
No matter what they try it wont work. It looks like it is the actual Satnav itself.
I took the Sat nav back to Halfords and quoted the sale of goods act (goods should last a reasonable amount of time) and the manager basically said that is only 12 months at Halfords. No amount of arguing would make him change his mind
What do I do now?

This is what you get for paying premium inflated prices at halfrauds.
Theyre the curry's of motor factors except they charge you more for the pleasure of zero customer care.
You need to gain a report detailing that the fault is inherent, then wrote a letter before action giving them 14 days to resolve the issue and refund the report before you take court action.
But first, how about escalating to a dedicated CS f they have one?Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
I suggest ignoring the above post. Sir marcus is a current pest on these forums and you will find numerous thread with many posters disagreeing with his ridiculous posts.
The CEO is a last resort, as if he says no, where do you go then? if you go to CS then you have numerous ports of call to get your claim accepted. (thanks to Olliesdad for that idea)Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
TomToms have a two year warranty, no need to complain, and TomTom will do any repairs direct with you, eliminating the need to go through Halfords.
Yes, you have the right to insist they deal with it, but it's going to be a lengthier process.
However, you note you have spent time on the phone with them. Have they at any stage offered to repair it? If not, insist they do, and they will send you packaging (so no postage costs). You can also do this via their website if memory serves.Any advice or opinion is only informal advice to the best of my knowledge. Just covering my back, yadda yadda.0 -
You also need to bare in mind that you have to prove to Halfords that the defect was an inherent fault that was present at the time of purchase before Halfords have to do anything.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Tomtom units purchased after April 2007 only have a 1 year warranty. http://www.tomtom.com/legal/?Page=Warranty
Unless it's one of these models? My mistake, I didn't realise it was exclusive, but this covers the vast majority that people tend to buy.- TomTom GO 510
