6 digit code number with "M" or "V" at the beginning needed I think.

Do you mean that’s the code, or I need a different serial? If the second, do you know how to get it please? I got that one by pressing 1 & 6

Try pressing 2 and 6. If no joy, then wait for others to confirm how to get the M or V number. It's different to serial number, e.g. -

M123456

V654321

etc

Had to get the whole unit out. The number was hand written on a sticky label on the top near the back

Luckily the fascia is broken anyway so I managed to do it with 2 screwdrivers and a hacksaw blade. Otherwise it looks like you would need to take the whole centre column panel off, or maybe there's a special pulling tool that fits into four suspicious-looking slots on the left and right edges

2 "U-shaped" allen-key looking things that are VERY cheap are slotted into those 4 holes - you push all 4 arms in at once, and bingo - out the radio pops!

I would invest...
