I couldn't believe a humble Nissan Micra which doesn't have the worlds fanciest CD/Radio needed such effort to get back on after a simple flat battery.

A: You need the ID / Serial Number from the radio (which is only a small job of removing almost the whole top dashboard, dismantling the air vents and removing the entire central section which contains the radio unit) ... after this wholly OTT exercise, the numbers can be found on the back of the radio. Then simply rebuild the front of the cars internal centre section to get back to your non working radio state

B: Find a main dealer who will charge you for your own bloomin' code for your car which suffered nothing more than a flat battery... (I think not)

C: Find a forum (I suspect here is as good as anywhere though I used techkings dot org by chance [I can't post links as a new user] ) and after posting the numbers there at 3 minutes past the hour, got the 4 digit code kindly supplied by a user at exactly 5 mins past...

So a 2 minute wait and a 4 digit code without cost seemed reasonable.

I'm still amazed that in a car like the micra many people will still end up paying a mechanic to dismantle and rebuild the dash 'before' paying a dealer for the code.

It'd be cheaper to buy a new Sound System!

And of course ... if your battery is flat on a micra, you couldn't access the car if it was locked anyway as the electronic key fob wouldn't work and unless you knew the emergency manual key entry method - you'd have an AA / Mechanic callout to release your bonnet before the battery could be charged!!

Piece of nonsense all round! :mad:
