Car Radio Unlocking

For 3428 reasons I haven't read the whole thread but just in case it helps anyone...
Isn't the radio code normally stored by the ECU on relatively modern cars? I know on mine (2003) if I've disconnected the battery then the radio starts in safe mode but if I drive around for 10/20 minutes with the radio switched on (still in safe mode) then it picks up the code from the ECU.
If you've tried everything else then maybe worth a try before paying anyone money for not much...0 -

Hi there
I recently had the battery changed on my Vectra C car, now the stereo is locked and I don't have the code.
Is there a way to get the code for this unit, I had a look around this forum (usefull infor, great forum by the way) but no entries relating to the CCR2006(E)
Anyone help?
The info on the unit is as follows:
Siemens VDO 330886636
Type CCR2006(E)
Serial no: BS0003441325374
Many thanks!0 -

Hello,
Sorry.
Your code will only be available from the Main Dealer database or the unit will have to be taken into a Radio Decoding Service0 -
