Thank you so much, unfortunately when I put the stereo in the car it came up 'locked' so no way to enter the code. my scrap yard bargain may not be so much of a bargain as I thought. -Update -Ford garage told me a way to get to the code entering part but it didnt accept the code 1150.

What exactly does it show on the screen, LOCKED, LOCK10 or LOCK13 ?
Is the serial number from the sticker clearly M102689 ?

Oops there is more than one seriel number on the stereo, my mistake - M019336 is the one on the Sony sticker. It did say LOCKED 10 it now says lock 11 but has the dashes to allow me to enter the code. Thank you very much for your help :T
