That doesn`t look like the correct Serial Number

The radio has to be removed from the dashboard and then quote all the letters and numbers on the label on the metal casing

Sorry....your code will only be available from someone with access to the VW Main Dealer database or the unit will have to be taken into a Radio Decoding Service

It is unlikely to be available for free from anywhere on the Internet

the number i quote was the serial number from the diagnostic menu in the radio... its the big radio with touch screen and sat nav. this model here :

if i have to take it out is there a household item i can use to remove the radio ?

It looks as though you require 4 x flat release keys because you have
4 slots on your radio

Similar removal keys are used on this Ford model here

During the process I've lost my radio.
