v codes are not available for free,
you could try ebay, you should be able to get it for under £5.

We need the serial number in the form M123456 (or V123456), press 6&1 or 6&2 and the number may appear on the screen clearly in that form. If not then the unit will have to be removed from the dash and the serial read from the sticker.

I needed the code for my wife's 03 reg Fiesta (type 4500 stereo) after the garage disconnected the battery to do the cambelt (??). Found this excellent (free) site which seems to cover most modern Ford radio types: pumapeople.com

Worked a treat!!
