  • can anyone help with 50700012
  • So, I've gone down the well-travelled path :)
    • Battery change
    • Code only available for a fee from dealer. Seems a bit of a racket. Funnily enough they entered the code during a service many years ago, I then leafed through the paperwork to see if they'd written it down, of course they hadn't.
    • Had a job removing radio; hex keys (allen keys) weren't a good fit in my case, but 'Autoleads Iso Car Stereo Radio Removal Key' (pair of keys) did the trick very easily. About 80p on amazon.
So I'm wondering if there's help available for the final step.

Car is a rover 200 (no laughing at the back, it runs very well).
I think the relevant bit is:
    RG594FW1042485

That's from the left-hand side of the case.

Looks like a combination of model and product nos:

    model/type: 22DC594/60B
    product: FD 0498281042485

Radio is original to the car but made by Philips.
    Grateful for any help.

Is your radio fitted in a Ford?

The correct radio SERIAL NUMBER is required for a code

It usually begins with M or V followed by SIX digits ...such as M654321 or V654321

Sometimes pressing buttons 6 & 1 together or 6 & 2 will display this number

Otherwise remove the radio from the dashboard and post the SERIAL NUMBER found on a label on the casing

Radio removal instructions can be found here
