    How about serial number M348043, looks like whoever noted the number down may have got the 2nd to last digit mixed up...
    I suggest you pull the radio out and take the number off of the sticker before you risk killing it completely, you only have a finite number of tries. The numbers quoted in the booklets of any used Ford cannot be relied on.

    There is no need to buy removal tools.
    A bit of patience using 2 thin screwdrivers or bits of a wire coat-hanger or similar will do the trick

    Here is a video showing how to remove a standard radio from the dashboard.
    A pair of extractors are required (available from Ebay etc ) but these can be made from 2 pieces of bent, wire coat-hanger or 4 small drills(using the blunt end) or 4 small Allen Keys or 4 small screwdrivers or 4 nails or even 4 darts.

    An assistant is useful to pull the radio out whilst you are releasing the 4
    securing clips
