Incidentally, I thought I would not be able to try your code since the radio appeared to be locked out even though I was sure I had not tried the ten code attempts that are apparently allowed. My friend told me that I should switch the ignition to position 1 and wait until the 3 bars come up flashing - sure enough after 3 days it started flashing to allow me to try your code. (He said the time wait gets longer for every unsuccessful attempt)

Your response would be much appreciated

Is ther a number beginning with A, C, L or M on the unit anywhere ?

If those numbers quoted in your OP are in fact :

C343079 then the code is 285
or
C551941 then the code is 124

Bar code label on the top of the radio is:
Ford Sound 2000
FD2005K 0343079
It also says on the 'made in brazil' label, on the side of the radio:
2005
89FB-18K876-AA
0551941

These older radio codes are calculated using a seven digit Serial Number.

You have quoted two such numbers above and so using

0551941 the code is 246

However using the other number

0343079 this code calculates to 656

Try this one and let me know .

god knows what ive done i put the code in that you gave me then it said please wait and started counting down from 30 minutes until i realised i gave you the wrong number it is M022860 so i switched off the ignition, will it now let me try the new number when i get it, what do i need to do

Hi, would anyone be able to help me please? Didn't use my car for a while and disconnected the battery. Now my radio won't work as it is asking for the code. Srl no: M002927. Garage where I bought the car have been useless! Grateful for any help - thanks!

Hello molerat,
There are no letters on the unit apart from as below. The labels are:

Bar code label on the top of the radio is:
Ford Sound 2000
FD2005K 0343079
It also says on the 'made in brazil' label, on the side of the radio:
2005
89FB-18K876-AA
0551941

RegWorts has calculated 246 for 0551941(does not work) and 656 if the serial no is 0343079 which I will try when the bars begin to flash again!

Any other possibilities or help would be much appreciated.
