The radio SERIAL NUMBER beginning with GM0400++++++++ is required for a code

First remove the radio from the dashboard.

Then post all the letters+numbers on any labels,barcodes or stamped in the metal casing.

This information can then be used to see if a code can be calculated

Thanks Bash, had to wait half an hour of the ignition being in for an error code to clear before he could put the code in but DH has just called me to say that it works. Thanks again.

If it one of the "3 piece" units press 6&2. If anything else the unit needs to be removed.
