    Now this is funny. I just heard this 5 minutes ago.

    This is an urban myth that does NOT work and may damage your radio beyond repair.

    This myth started when just one model of radio around 20 - 30 years ago had a faulty chip and this freezing method was claimed to have worked. Nobody actually knows anybody who cured their radio using this method (it`s always "a friend of a friend " ), but there are a lot of people who had to throw their radios away after trying it!.

    So be warned IT DOES NOT WORK so don`t bother trying it.

    I done some work on a friends car for free and removed the battery and now the stereo doesn't work!
