Bought fridge from Boots online - no stock and I want my ££ back. Theyre saying 3wks!

My mum wanted to buy a certain fridge so she went onto the net, found that Boots online listed it, and she bought it. After getting an email saying that her card had been debited, some person from customer services calls her saying that the item is out of stock and will take several weeks to arrive. She asks for her money back but then he says it will take several weeks to give her a discount! Where's the justice in that? She can pay immediately, why can't she get refunded immediately?

Also - why are they debiting before they dispatch the item? I just ordered a Macbook from apple and they didn't debit until the item was dispatched.
