Is it worth getting and does it cover things such as getting locked out?
We just had a bill for £150 after our lock went, leaving us locked out of the house. I realise this could havebeen worse but after forking out for anew washing machine it was the last thing we needed.
The emergency budget is taking some serious hits at the moment as we have had a lot of other expenses as well and I wondered if it's worth taking out a seperate policy or getting it added to our insurance.

Read the policy documents as not all insurance cover the same. Most of the emergency cover is for things like a leak in the pipe etc. Emergency things. They cover up to a set amount of money.
READ THE POLICY.
I have it as I am useless in emergency DIY.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

I would count being locked out of the house an emergency but according to a lot of the policies I have looked at the insurers don't agree0 -

That's exactly why you need to read the policies as Teddy suggests.
They may not offer the cover you are expecting.0
