Hi Folks
Looking for a decent DSLR camera, £200 budget, so likely I'll be looking for a decent used one.
Had a look at Olympus E420, which looks OK at 10 megapixels, but wondering if I might be missing out on the opportunity of other cameras.
Any thoughts and suggestions gratefully accepted.

The only reason I keep smiling is so that people wonder what I've been up to !!

If you're serious about your photography then be careful about the choice you make now. The camera you choose now will dictate the make/fit of the lenses you will purchase in the future, and once you have a set of lenses you'll be more inclined to purchase that brand of camera. I.e. if you choose Olympus now and are still shooting in ten years time, chances are you'll be shooting with an Olympus camera and Olympus lenses.
On that basis I suggest looking at Nikon or Canon whose cameras and lenses are far superior. You should be able to pick up a used Nikon D40 or D60 for around £250. I would also put megapixels bottom of the list of priorities, it isn't important at all.
If you're not that serious consider purchasing a bridging camera.0 -
only echo what electrodent says!
A photo is only as good as the lens and the body of the camera.
Canon or Nikon are the big 2 in the photographic world, and who offer the upgradability of better lenses/bodies if/when you get the bug.
For what it's worth I am a regular contributer on a photo website -

where they have a very active and well priced camera sales sub forum, where I am sure you could well get a bargain!
For what it's worth a Nikon D60 would be an ideal start for youFeb 2012 - onwards MF achieved

Yes - Nikon & Canon lenses are good but VERY expensive. However this works in the Nikon & Canon owners favour as there are at least two good independent lens makers who make lenses for Nikon and Canon cameras at much reduced prices. They do not make many, if any, other camera fit lenses
I just got a 150 - 500 zoom for my Nikon from Sigma for £700, the Nikkor equivalent is over £4,000 !
100% agree with the pixel comment !!!0
