£3000 to invest

A friend of mine has £3,000 which she would like to invest/save for a rainy day.
I don't be on this board much so don't really know what's the best for her.

Can someone please advise the best place to put her money. She said that she can put it away for 3 years.

If this is the wrong place please move.

Thanks
Mac

Hi Your question is a little but vague and to be honest you can have a look at some of the saving options on the savings tab at the top or try -
http://moneyfacts.co.uk/compare/savings/accounts/best-sellers-savings/ MONEY FACTS have a look at some accounts
    or -
    http://www.moneysupermarket.com/savings/

To be honest it really depends on how you want to manage the money. You mention that you would put it away for 3 years, some 3 year accounts like this one - Baroda MAX 3 Year Fixed Rate Bond pays 4.30%
theres a 1 year Baroda deal at 3.15%

If you ned money quickly you may need an instant access account - theres a few at 2.75% (ING, Post office / Santander) the best instant access at the min is the AA at 2.8%.

The real question is the management of the money - do you need it, can you leave it alone for the term etc etc.

Theres a few accounts and places where you can do some research!

    Thanks natman
will point her to a few of you links

She is happy to let it sit and not touch if for 3 years, so the Baroda MAX 3 Year Fixed Rate Bond looks the best.
