    Just phone up and say you wish to close the account. The offshore robot will want to know why and I am sure they will refund it to keep you.

    If not just proceed with the closure and then never go with them again.

    Isn't it amazing how all these whingers are always first time posters!

    They get stung with a charge which is their own fault, and after losing an argument with the bank, they become incandescent with rage at their own stupidity, so they register as a new user on a financial website and blow off steam. In most cases we never hear from them again.

    I'm also a big fan of the "I'm going to close my account and watch this once mighty company crumble to the ground as a result. Then they'll be sorry that I don't spend my £200 a month on their card anymore and their profits have tumbled by £2 a year" approach.
