What essential money saving tips would you give to a newbie? i.e I have acquired a Tesco Clubcard, Nectar Card and Co-op card to gain points and vouchers and such like. What else should I be taking advantage of?

Pigsback is OK see seperate thread on the Freebies board for all the information you need.
Quidco is handy if you are going to buy something anyway and you have checked that retailer is the cheapest you can get. Basically you get a discount or cashback for going onto the retailers site via Quidco. Again there is a separate thread about this.
My top money saving tip is Skype or VOIP for calling abroad, have saved lots as my Danish Family are now getting Skype so we talk for free and use webcams too.
