Help with Business Use for a 21 year old...

My son just got offered a Saturday job with a local Estate Agency.
This will involve meeting clients at properties to enable access.
When we try and add 'Business Use' to the car insurance for him(21 year-old) the premiums go stupid!
Can anyone suggest how to get around it LEGALLY?
Thanks
PS: He is supposed to start next Saturday

Will the estate agency cover the cost of the business use ? Have you ensured his occupation is down as part time for the estate agency (i assume this is true by the nature of your OP)
Also is it his car insured in his name ?0 -
Estate agency will not cover cost.
He is named driver, although we have attempted to get quotes both ways, to no avail...£2700+Jus' tryin' to always entrepreneurably improve ma situation...:rotfl:0 -
Insurers tend not to like named driver business use as it can imply they are the main user of the vehicle. If he is in fact the main user then the car needs to be in his name.
The problem in your sons name is his lack of NCD0 -
He is not the main user.
Have obtained quotes with the car in his name, makes no difference!

If the estate agent requires him to go out and meet clients as part of his job, then they should be providing a vehicle insured appropriately. It sounds as if they want their cake and eat it - why should you/your son fund their business use?
In your son's shoes I should go back to them and advise that it is not possible to get business use insurance - has he asked if they will provide the transport for him?0 -
You cant get around it, I have Business class 1 on two cars for 2 people it costs an extra £30. The vans is £1800. If he has a crash its invalid so not much you can do, have to weigh the cost up0
