We know that the amounts invested are consistant

No we dont. Comments on another thread said they started lower.
The IFA and others have stated the this pension has performed well and that the OP should be happy.

I dont believe anyone has said it has performed well. It has performed in line with the benchmark during that period.
The IFA stated that pensions do not perform and where you invest does that. That is just a spin on words.

That is not a spin on words. There are about 50,000 places you can invest with an infinite number of variations. The pension itself is just a tax wrapper that you place the investments in. The pension cannot and will not perform well, badly or anything. It does not perform at all. The investments you pick do that.

Three identical pensions. One holding cash, one holding emerging market investments and the other holding property funds. All three will have different returns. Yet the pension is identical. Put the same investments in an ISA and the returns are identical.

Three identical cups. One with orange juice, one with water, one with coffee. If you dont like coffee, do you throw the cup away? Do you say the cup tastes bad or that the coffee tastes bad?
The IFA can quote the stats but the fact is that £47,500 value represents a bad deal.

"The IFA" is quoting facts. You have an opinion that is not based on facts but a lack of understanding.

The OP stated that the orginal payment was £70.00 per month or something like this and it rose after a few years to £140.00 per month.

Fact is that this a very poor investment.

The IFA just shows how bad he is at his job with his support of Abbey Life.

    Give it up Dunstonh.

Reasoning only works with those people who are prepared to open their mind and learn.

    Dunstonh is providing facts.
You are just highlighting your own ignorance.

The IFA needs re training. Its obvious that he supports Abbey Life by stating that the fund has performed well.

I have read this, and I really really don't follow your arguement, and especially how you show contempt for dunstonh's advice. Sombrero, don't rubbish people on this forum, its a sure way to never getting responses and you being called a troll.
    Best Regards

The IFA needs re training as he states that the performance of this pension is at the average or slightly above the average of the 20 year period of investment into this fund.

The fact is that if you would have invested in a pension over this period with any average provider you would expect to have a pension pot of about £75,000

Hi sombrero - I'm a bit new to all this. Your figures sound about right to me but my maths is letting me down. Can you show (in straightforward terms!) roughly how you get your £75k figure?
If I had a pound for every time I didn't play the lottery...
