Benefit for 17 1/2 year old working daughter?

If she's only going to be working for 16 hours, quite honestly it would be better for everyone (not just financially) if she was in full time education as well.
OP, is there a reason why she left education so early; what qualifications does she have?0 -
Hi,
Thank you all for the replies. So, it seems she's not entitled to claim any Benefit, after all.
I suppose I'm just surprised that a 16 hour a week job, can be classed as full time employment.
Yes, she would have been better off in education, but she's not the academic type. She was desperate to get a job and earn some money to help me out, because she knows due to my caring commitment, I can't work.
Thank you especially to 'Benefits Bod' for the info regarding when she's 18 amd 'tcr' for the HC1 application, i'll follow that up.
Times are hard, I suppose..0 -

She doesn't have to be academic to be at college, most of the courses there are practical.
Does she realise all the money that you're losing in CB/CTC and that she'd get 30.00 per week EMA on top of her part time earnings?
She's actually putting both you and herself in a far worst position by not being in education/training, even if she were able to contribute all of her money to the household. Can you not spell out to her the financial problems she's creating by her choice?0 -
How about a college based apprenticeship?
That way she is gaining work experience and you can claim benefits for her as well as her receiving EMA or a training allowance.
I would take some 'keep' from her if she doesn't tbh.0 -
Hi , im ever so sorry for hijacking this thread....im confused at the min and was hoping that some of the knowledgable posters who have been offering advice on here could give me a few pointers.
Anyhow....my daughter , 17 next month , has just been accepted onto a training course , we are in northern ireland so the course is called "training for success" . The course means that my entitlement to tax credits and child benefit will continue.
The reason i am confused though is because my daughter has been told that instead of receiving EMA , she will receive a weekly training allowance of £40 - plus travel expenses (£10) .
My daughter has also today started a part time job , she will only be doing around 16 hours just to subsidise her training allowance .
The following is the points on which i am confused and would appreciate some help.
1) Would the training allowance count towards her tax free personal allowance?
Im worried that the training allowance + part time earnings would take her close to or over her personal allowance
2) Do i inform the training provider that she has a part time job ?
3) Do i inform her part time job employer that she receives the training allowance ?
4) Do i inform tax credits that she is working part time (16 hours approx per week)
5) Is there any requirement for me to contact HMRC to inform them that she is working and also claiming training allowance ?
Please , Benefitbod if you read this can you offer some advice ?
Advice from all others is welcome too.
