Offer accepted - Survey done - Getting quotes......feeling uneasy!

Options
Hi all @ MSE

My fiance and I had an offer accepted on a house about 2 weeks ago. We are FTB and the house is chain free. We have had the survey done and it brought up several 'urgent matters' such as;
Re-building exterior chimney stack
Re-pointing whole rear of property
Damp proof
Timber defects

I have arranged for some trades to gather some quotes for the possible costs.

We eventually offered full asking price: £142950 and the survey came back saying in its current state it is valued at: £140950.

Because my fiance and I run our own business which is VERY busy at the moment, we are finding it hard to dedicate time to the house process and we are worried we are not moving fast enough for the vendors.

We are just feeling a bit overwhelmed I think......Its alot to take in, understand and action. We do feel quite lost really.....:confused:

I don't even know if there was a point to this thread.....I think it was more of a share our worries and current troubles thread...LOL, oh well!

MSE is great!

    Most surveys come up with bits and pieces, the surveyor has to cover his backside and sometimes the work sounds more urgent than it actually is, all houses are secondhand and will need things doing, in my opinion that doesnt sound too bad, hoe old is the property. If its been downvalued reoffer the price the surveyor said and if your happy on that basis then go ahead. If your not happy you have the option to pull out. HTHxx

  • You're spending a lot of money but it probably seems like the vendors are running everything right now. You're bound to be feeling apprehensive as I recon this is the hardest part of the process. We had a huge amount of pressure from the estate agent at this point. We're currently a week away from completion and it is only now that my boyfriend is feeling excited, as apposed to an awful concerned feeling.

    Our survey came back with about £35k worth of work to do on our house but it is a run down 1894 property so we knew about most of the work already and none of it was a shock. I was/am looking forward to the project but my boyfriend who had his own businesses didn't/doesn’t need anything else to spend time on.
