Hi
Hoping someone can help me, I want to buy some Skywards miles off ebay to boost my own total but as far as I can see you cannot transfer them to your account once you have purchased them, how do you get round this issue, esepcially if you want to purchase off a couple of auctions.
Cheers

Have you asked the seller how s/he would deliver them to you?
Otherwise, I have always found the staff in the Skywards call centre to be very helpful. Give them a ring and see if they have any suggestions.0 -
well the sellers in the majority seem to give access to there Skywards account which I understand but if I purchased off a couple I could end up for example having access to 3 or more accounts and I wondered how this worked when it came to redeeming the points, I have spoken once to the call centre and they where quite adamant that you couldn't just purchase miles off ebay but they sell so there must be a way around0

The concept with those who sell FF miles on ebay is that they give you access to their accounts, then you book flights with their miles in your name. This obviously has significant safety and trust issues, hence not recommended.
Besides, with most FF plans this sort of 'sale' isn't permitted, so you may find yourself shelling out money for an account which is then quickly suspended and you lose your cash.
The 'way around it' would be to convert the miles from the bought account to a mileage partner account in your name, then back to your own account (eg via Hilton Honours) - however typically you lose miles as the conversion rate is poor.
I absolutely would not recommend buying miles via ebay.Legal team on standby0 -
If the miles have been purchased (unlikely) they can "gift" up to 25,000 miles per year to you providing you have recent activity on your account. Otherwise they should be giving you control of their account for you to place the order. Skywards rules allow a member to purchase tickets/upgrades for someone else so that is in effect what you are doing although you are then controlling the purchase. It also makes it easier to purchase miles if you need to top up the amount being sold. Always check that the flights or upgrades in the category you want are available first, as there are only so many released per flight. I have successfully bought and used Skywards miles like this but, as pointed out above, it has it's risks.0
