I have received an email yesterday from Scottishpower advising that my capped price deal finishes on 31 August 2010 and I will be switched to their new capped one from 1 September 2010 unless I opt out by 12 October 2010. I checked the capped prices and there is a 1.902p increase in my electric and 1.373p in my gas per kwh.
Has anyone else received an email and what are they going to do, is this a good deal or not? I spent approx £243 on gas and £738 on elec last year.

Go on a comparison site and see what else you can get (use your annual kWh usage though, not your annual spend).
No one can say if a cap is good for your particular circumstances or not. If you want the security that a cap offers then fine, but you may end up paying more than you would have.No free lunch, and no free laptop
