  • If you do this, other people can attack or infect your PC's, sniff your email and everything you type, every website you visit from out of thin air, possibly get at all your files..
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

If his ISP finds out they'll terminate his contract. Most t&c's forbid that kind of thing.
Please remember this forum is not about breaking the law or violating contract terms. And certainly not endorsing that behaviour.

Surely the onus should be on the owner of the router to password protect it.

If someone is stupid enough not to secure their network then its fair game!

People don't even password protect thier router set-up access page......madness!!

    Sharing is caring!

One thought, if you leave your house unlocked, is it ok for people to come in and help themselves to your heating and lighting?

Exactly, some people on here seem to think that no security is the same as an open invitation.

  • I don't think it's right to connect to someone else broadband because it will be them that gets in trouble with the law because it's coming from there internet connection it you download something you shouldn't. But please please be aware if they select the option 'my network places' they might be able to see your computer in the list and might see some computer shares on there computer and steal your data.

But the real people to blame are the Wireless Broadband router people because they should make it easier and protected from day one.
