But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Morning Cat!
We're off to the Lakes today for a few days - fingers crossed for the weather!
We're taking the dog with us for a bit of an outdoors, pub lunch, mooch about kind of break.
Before we go I will/have...- Checked bank - no surprises
- Checked quidco - no change
- Post ebay parcel
- Checked ebay - put 12 items on and virtually all of them have watchers, a few have bids, they're all low value items but hopefully they'll add up and declutter a bit in the process
- Pack a bag for the dog
- Pack my stuff (not going glamorous, due to the weather and probable mud!)
- Make sure house is all locked up - there have been a spate of break ins lately
- Print out hotel details so we can find it
- Put dry washing away
- Charge phone
- Phone kennels

Hi, I'd love to join this thread to keep me focused please:
Mine:
[STRIKE]Check bank[/STRIKE] (My overdraft extension has been approved but it is better than going unauthorised and running up charges
)
[STRIKE]Check Quidco[/STRIKE] (Haven't had a look on Quidco for months, so was just able to do a good few freebies)
Post ebay parcels
Leftovers for lunch
Spend b*ots No7 voucher as thriftily as possible
Decant shower gel and conditioner in to small bottles for holiday rather than buying small sizes
That'll do for starters x
(And thanks for the welcomes already
) :beer:0 -
Morning all! Thanks for starting us off Cat
List for me today:
Washing on dry inside on airer
Tea from stores
Quick bit of housework - I have found something that really helps, we have wooden floors downstairs and with 2 cats there is always plenty of fluff about, a vacuum just seems to spread it about and a brush just gets too clogged up. Years ago I bought a 'swiffer' but can't get the disposable bits for it anymore(they're expensive anyway) so yesterday I bought 3 microfibre clothes from tesco for a pound and I can use one of these and then just pop it in the wash
Pop to town and park for free
Take 2 tops back for a refund
Start packing for weekend, make list of what I need to get together
Have a good day everyone

ok gonna be quick as I am determined not to spend my free time on the comp this morning or doing too much housework!

Its such a drag not having our laptop at the moment and can only go on the pc in the spare room, which is the students room, so can only use it when he's not here
(nothing like it to build resentment!
)
had another blissful lay in
, and working till 8 was actually really nice yesterday, its been so long since I've done a late I forgot that its quieter so I got loads done and the drive home is quicker so less of a chore
so today:- [STRIKE]quick/small bath (& pray the shower hose arrives today...)[/STRIKE] yay it arrived :j
- [STRIKE]grab something out of the freezer for tea at work, I'm sure I've got a small portion of chilli in there
)[/STRIKE] I think its chilli but it could be spag... - call npower and sort out the bill, gonna ask if they'll accept 1/2 then and there and increase our dd by £10pm for the other £60
) - [STRIKE]go to the running shop and get them to test which trainers I need :j[/STRIKE] was v exciting :j have been told the way I run is very rare but a very efficient way of running (apparently if you watch athletes this is the way they run, front footed) and I must make sure I have correct trainers & do a certain stretch so I don't damage my joints/ankles...
- [STRIKE]get petrol before work[/STRIKE]
- other than petrol NSD (have decided not to include petrol or budgeted groceries in measuring NSDs) nope as I bought trainers :jbut cos I'm size 4 1/2 I got juniors whcih cost £40  not £80 :j
- [STRIKE]check banking[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]update sig as had a NSD yesterday[/STRIKE] :j (decided to take militant action & left my purse at home
) - check onepoll in lunch hour
- charge phone at work
- drive carefully to & from work
- water toms
- play triv tnight

and booked an appt with the dentist . Managed to find a NHS accepting dentist and have been advised its £16.60 for the initial check up & then if I need any work doing (which I do) the total cost will be £46.60 (not £16.60) for however much work I need... Morning All:hello:
I'm a bit gloomy today, it looks like DS2 will have to re-take a year of his uni
I hate it that he feels a failure
I hate it that he now has problems that can't be kissed better

Good idea on the Swiffer solution, I used to clean the cat hair under the sofa in the kitchen (tiled floor) with a j-cloth on the swiffer, but I reckon a microfibre cloth would be even better
So today I have/will:- 30 mins on the CT
- read the papers on-line
- Skype DS2 and DD to see if I can say anything helpful -not known for my tact

- we've been invited out to supper (will cost us though) so will freeze a meal from this weeks meal plan for Popeye while I'm away.
- will knit while catching up on the Archers

I've been so gloomy that I've almost ignored that Popeye has a new contract. His basic has gone up :j but he's lost a couple of allowances
so slightly worse off short-term, but good for when he returns to the UK and not only not unexpected, but not as bad as we first envisaged. (if you can follow that!)
And he has a great bargaining chip which is that he is being head-hunted - again. Though I'm not interested in going to the US
Have a great day everybody :A0
