Google chrome memory leak- fix?

Anyone else got major performance issues with Google chrome - seems to be a memory leak. If so is there a fix which works. At present gone back to IE.

Works fine but then again, I'm on Mac OS X which is an older version than Windows. How are you coming to the conclusion it has a memory leak?

As I progressively visit more web sites, keeping some open at the same time, it progressively slows down, I googled problem and found lots of refs to it not clearing properly after each search and so ending up hogging all the resources. ( Also I access my email via netmail and it seems unable to open individal emails when I use it for this.)
  • You'll have to provide more information if you want any assistance, eg what version are you using, what add-ons have you installed, what operating system are you using, what spec is your system etc..

You'll find all browsers do this - they use memory for caching for faster access to recently visited sites. How much RAM have you in your computer? Nowadays 1GB is pretty much the minimum with browsers using 1/4 to 1/2 of that.
  • I suppose i have found the solution for this annoying problem. You can fix Chrome by disabling one of two Shockwave plugins. More about that is on my blog at azurepopcorn.blogspot.com/2010/11/chrome-memory-leak-flash-plugin-problem.html

I've had it running with over a dozen open tabs, and no performance issues. Win XP, 1.4Gb RAM.

The Mac OS X version has its own issues. Play a youtube video. On mine as soon as I do, battery life starts to drop considerablyand my Macbook Pro gets well warm. I've seen 100% CPU usage before.
