I bet Ants think we are complete Knobs.:)
I bet ants feel we all grow up from complete Knobs. After all, we all tried to burn them with matches/magnifying glasses as kids.:o (Or knew a kid who did). It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

And surely we aspire to behave ethically. Look at the altruism of many wealthy people.
How did they get wealthy.
I agree with being a good person and practice it myself but I leave one example.
You can be a good person and feed a lion every day it does not stop it one day eating you unfortunatly.
Being civilized requires everyone to be civilized .
There is no evidence we are more civilized than any animal ( I would say the opposite).
We just like to think how we behave seperates "us" from "them".
In reality we are the most destructive, out of control species on the planet.
Nature is still there at the very forefront of human behaviour, we just can't bare to think our exitence is just as pointless as every other animals.0 -

Not necessarily, if you me and my dog got stranded on an island with no food source I just imagine what my dog would be saying by the third day:
Bloody hell not lemonjelly again for dinner!Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

I agree. But what seperates us is the ability to think & decide how to behave. We are aware of the options available to us. Ultimately we do decide on how to act. And therefore must bear responsibility for our actions.
Given this, then surely we should act in an ethical manner where possible.
Sorry nick - taken your thread waaaaaay off track!:oIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

Is it fair for me to be confused by you & the dog being on an island with no food source, then both of you complaining about eating lemonjelly again?:DIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
The solution is for the market to correct and the economy to recover. These things will happen eventually. If people cannot afford to buy then prices will drop. If lots of people are able to buy property the builders will build.
Nothing stays the same forever. We will remember the boom and eventual bust for a long time, but something else will come along. Could be lithium.0 -

Not sure about that,
"civilized" adults use chemical warfare and murder the whole town for living in the path of their patio instead of picking out the odd one.
Sorry, nick. So you and your dog would eat lemmonjelly? I suppose it is better than listen to
"Younow yow could yuse that cowcownut as a football.":D0 -

If you creating a profit came at the cost of 5 people losing their lives daily, would you think that fair or acceptable? I'd think most humans wouldn't.
(As an aside, perhaps throwing this stuff into a debate isn't best done on an economics forum:o, but that is my fault.:o)
I think this thread is due an application of Godwin's law.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Riots on the streets, my a**e.
Good grief.
I wasn't suggesting riots. My point was that the government is unlikely to allow rates to increase to the level that would cause prices to drop, because the pressure of rates sufficient to cause prices to drop would probably also cause serious domestic financial problems. My point was that prices can drop while rates stay low (which is beneficialfor a number of reasons).0
