Tax Credit Overpayment

I had a letter the last week saying ive been overpaid but dont think I have
In Jan this yr, my DLA was up for renewal, so my Tax credits stopped while waiting for a decision, heard from DLA a few weeks later that I had been awarded again and would be backdated etc that was fine,
Informed tax credits I got my DLA again but they couldnt restart the payments due to a gap in payments, after months of trying to, they got me to fill in a new application which I did and sent it off - they withdrew my application before processing it as the old one was on the sytem still etc
Finally after 5 months of waiting, went to the complaints dept and they sorted it in a week, and also said they owed me over £1100 ontop of the 5 months backdated payment
Now my renewal, i have from July 09 - Jan 10
Jan 10 - April 10 (Last Tax Year)
and April 10 - Onwards
They said ive been overpaid the £1100 ish the same amount the lady from complaints sent a manual payment/giro of of underpayment
I rang up to ask about it, and it seemed like they put the £1100 under Jan - April not the July - Jan one and they would just transfer it over - but they didnt, and also didnt say ive been 'underpaid' in the July - Jan one
Dont know what to do about this now, ive got a dispute form to send back which ill write what i said here.
By looking and adding up my Tax Credits over last year, it doesnt seem like ive been overpaid, but its hard to estimate due to only starting claiming in July 2009 when I started working 16 hours!
So stressful, took 5 months for them to get them to pay me from last time, im just glad they havent stopped my payments or even decreased this years amount - not sure why tho, it was only mentioned on those final tax credits calculations letter things!

My advice would be to seek support from an agency such as the CAB who can speak/write to Tax Credits on your behalf. Not saying you can't do it yourself, its just such a minefield and sometimes agencies like Tax Credits sit up and listen more to CAB rather than the claimant directly.
Good luck with it all0 -

Hi, do what i did. I wrote to them asking for a breakdown of payments that made me overpaid. I told them i do not accept them saying i was overpaid as it was them who made the calculations using their methods, and as such i trusted them to make the right decission. They wrote off my overpayment of £4900. Hope this helps.0 -
From what you say the manual payment was posted in the wrong year. Phone contact center asked if this can be correct. If you already done that it can take several weeks to action it. Are you sure the 1100 was not an emergency interim payment and now claim is sorted have to paid it back?0

Ive recieved a Notice to pay letter today, and posted my overpayment dispute form off too now so I hope it gets sorted soon! Could do without the worry!
Looking at the 2 award notices im sure i havent been overpaid
adding up all money recived last tax yr and what should get this yr sounds right
from July 09 - Jan 10 i recieved roughly £1975 (163 days) and this one they say ive been overpaid by £1131 (would be £844 if overpaid for nearly twice the length of time as next one)
Jan 10 - April (89 days) recieved £1078 (which they say is right)
Same circumstances/income, same tax yr etc Both have Basic + Disability elementMake £10 a day Challenge June - £1700 -
ahh just looked again, it says the amount due was right at £1975. it just says they paid me £3100 thats where they 'overpaid' me... but looking at payments recieved think they have got mixed up or added the july - jan one onto itMake £10 a day Challenge June - £1700
