While ordinary people might be content to enter a competition once, compers take the practice to new levels.
Recent changes to competition rules have allowed companies to put promotions on their product that require entrants to have made a purchase. This has encouraged some competition fans to buy large amounts of product to maximise their chances.
pepsi anyone?0 -
That article was really interesting. Thanks for posting Jumbo
I don't believe you can live off comping, imagine if it was that fruitful, everyone would be doing it!!
We go thru sooo much Pepsi Max & OH's Mum drinks gallons of Diet Pepsi. We've had 100's of wrappers here & I've entered 100's of codes & alas, we haven't won anything, didn't win the phones, the £1,000 & no flip either :rotfl:
I do occasionally buy things with promo's on, but after a few times of not winning I give up, really cannot afford to be out of pocket.
I have sporadic wins too. I had an amazing few months not long ago & that helped us financially for a while, but wins are very dry now & have been for a couple of months & we're as skint as we were BC (Before comping :rotfl:)
I have 3 phones but only ever text off one  Only ever won one text comp out of 100's entered, that's probably why. Cannot believe people have 100 phones  That's like £1,000 to top them all up a month, must be millionaires alreadyxx JoJo xx
:heart2: And only now I see the light...:heart2:

Thanks for posting the article.
100 mobiles! £1000 of magnums etc! they obviously found some people who do it but I think it is a very very small number that go to such lengths. Making a living from it, holidays, cars etc almost sounds like a puff piece for the firms who enter competitions on your behalf for a fee.
Not sure 3 years counts as a recent change, I think it was Sept 07 the NPN route was no longer a requirement (excluding NI)0 -
Well I must be going wrong somewhere!! £1,000 on Magnums and a trading standards officer as well!! Lucky he has £1000 to spend on ice cream. He will need weight watchers next!!!!Good Luck to everyone0

We do look for the loops in comps on here but its part of the fun. the big companys can afford to run the comps and have the set amount of prizes ready. yes working as a team here we get the upper hand sometimes but its just coz we got the savvy to work it out. i dont feel bad one bit. i put the hours in so deserve my wins (when they come about).0

As has been said the Pepsi competition is a huge gamble. You could easily spend a hundred pounds and come away with nothing. Can you make a living from gambling?
Remember hearing about the Magnum guy on the other site - the key on that (and a lot of these unique codes) was getting in at the early stage of the competition when entries were lower.
The number of text-only competitions have dropped significantly in the past 2 years as promoters got wise to the multiple handsets. Can't believe anyone would have 100 handsets.
The article isn't really that surprising but you couldn't quit a £30k a year job and do it professionally - far too risky.0 -
Excellent article, not sure the hugh layout upfront for pepsi and magnum was a good idea, i won a flip camcorder with the first 3 ring pull codes i entered, i have entered loads since in the hope of winning one for my friend with no luck at all, so it is very risky and down to luck of the draw.
I read an article in I think TAB magazine earlier this year about a women who spends (I think it was about £4000) a month on her phone bill from entering comps, she enters all the radio one's and text comps, she has now been banned from entering due to the amount of wins and entries she has. She had won, Holidays, a car, a least 50 TV's, loads of cash and other comps., she had six separate phone lines in her house so she was able to enter the comps more than once. I think they must have based their article on her as i dont no anyone who is addicted enough to happily cover such a large outlay.
I enter anything between 2000 and 3000 on line comps every month, i do a few postal one's if their good one's, but i never use my phone, i avoid them at all costs. i try to do at least 100 every day, but this year has been extra dry for me for comp wins, i have hardly won anything and what i have won has only been little. The camcorder has been my biggest win.
I love comping though I find it a great way to relax and unwind, I'm defiantly not in it for the wins I do it for the fun of it, but when i get a win it's an added bonus, I could certainly not make a living out of it thoughBest wins 2012 - £1500 Diamond ring; 2013 - £2000 Cash; 2014 - Bathroom makeover; 2015 - £1000 TAB win; 2016 - Michael Kors Watch; 2017 - 5* Trip to India; 2018 - 10 day Canadian Rockies adventure. 2019 - Garden Rattan setThanks to all who post comps :T

Thanks for that... very erm, 'enlightening'. 100 mobile phones - haha! So they'd have to have them all on all the time in case they missed a call? Gawd, must be phones ringing all over the place! Imagine trying to find the one that was ringing lol.
Hmm, pinch of salt springs to mind.
Mind you, pretty peed off we missed that vanilla extract comp
Cheers
Jx2024 wins: *must start comping again!*0 -
