Books at Car Boot Sales

I've always found M&B to be popular at bootsales, 50p each or 3 for £1 and they go really quickly. Suppose it depends on the target audience, the people who tend to buy them from me are older ladies and I expect you probably get more of those at car boot sales than on amazon or ebay (not wanting to offend anybody).
What kind of books are they?0 -
Thanks for the replies everybody! The books are varied, but I have about 75+, some cookbooks, Social Work and Politics, a few Japanese travel books, and quite a few fiction books that my wife wants to get rid of. I'm going to my first boot sale tomorrow as a browser to see how it's done.
BTW Crowqueen, there is no such thing as wasted hours playing Dizzy! I've been on a fair few message boards with this type of name and it always raises a bit of a chuckle. There's a fan site called yolkfolk.com, go on that for a total nostalgia overload!!!!

Same here really annoyed with trying to sell the books we have, they don't hold their value well. Ours are all like new (i have a habbit of buying my kids information books in the hope they'll learn something) lots never read and sets with rrps of £30+ i can't even sell them for £3.00 bin!
I just want rid of them as we cleared off the book shelf, but i'm not giving them away as they cost me enough!
We took 2 boxes of books to the bootsale (used kids ones) 20p each only sold about 10 hardly raking it in lol
Edit-thinking about it instead of my pile of practically new books sitting next to me as i type i may put them in the loft for when the kids are a few years older, they may read them then. Why didn't i think of that before.0 -

put books in good nick on Amazon...
really easy to list, no up front fees, and they email you if they sell....
have then in a box, with rendom envelopes etc, and just pop to the post office when they sell....
Simples...

You can actually sell M and B at a car boot, I bow to you I really do.
I couldn't even give the darn things away. I had box loads and was offering to carry them to peoples cars for them free of charge , and they still said no.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I did a carboot sale on saturday and lots of books flew out, I had a ton of autobiographies the hardbacks went for £1 and the paperbacks for 50p. Childrens books were a lot more hard going, when I got home and sorted them all out I still had a deep box full of childrens books, I must learn my lesson and stop buying more.Competition wins - 09/03 - £500 ELC Vouchers 11/04 - Lush Goodies 21/04 - Gillette Fusion Gift Pack 22/05 - Mirrors DVD 29/05 - Return Flights to London & £500 29/05 - £50 Homebase Gift Vouchers 20/09 - Remote Control Helicopter 28/09 - £225 Bingo Win 05/10 £25 Photobox Vouchers 16/09 £90 Cash 30/11 £29 Cash 03/01 £20 03/04 Fifa Football :T0

Do you want a good price, or just want them gone? If you're looking for a quick sale, sort them by genre, then list them on ebay as a job lot for each type. Get a postage quote for the courier, list in the wholesale / job lots category so you can put the actual postage cost, and then start them at 99p and hope they shift.
If they still don't go, charity shop might be your best option (or freecycle).Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.

It must be my natural charm :rotfl:
I certainly don't sell all of them but I have a goodish selection and I'm happy to sit and chat with the old dears. I think they probably just buy them out of pity0 -
I also have a little business selling them on ebay if you'd like to get rid of some lol. Although I'm running down my stock at the moment because the thought of moving home with thousands of books is a bit of a nightmare, hence the carboot sale (and probably the sympathy).
I'll quite happily take them off your hands once I've moved though0
