kia carens problems

I've just had 2 problems develop within a couple of days with my kia carens. Firstly the electric windows have stopped working on the drivers side (and intermittently the passenger side) and secondly the rear outside door handle wont' open the door.
I've checked the fuses in the drivers foot-well, but they're ok.
Firstly, does anybody have a suggestion to the cause or where I can get a wiring diagram from to investigate this and secondly how do I get my rear door open the fix the handle? The door has got the child lock on, so it won't open via the inside handle either.......

Wiring diagrams for vehicles such as these are nigh-on impossible to come by, I think only Kia will have that information I'm afraid. I think probing the switch, then checking for voltage the door and working from there are going to be your options.
I'm afraid with the door, you'll probably end up busting the door car off, and having to replace it with one from a scrapyard.

that sounds like it's going to be expensive. I suppose it's designed to get kia the custom when things go wrongMy £2 savings total for 2007 = £92, for 2008 = £124

re the electric windows, i've not got a carens myself but check the wiring near the hinge of the door, some cars have a screw in multi connector to make it easy to remove the car door etc, and if that's loose it'll either stop the windows working completely, or intermittently depending on how loose it is.
Is the rear door unlocking? (does the button pop up?), if not i'd say it's probably going to all be down to the wiring at the drivers door, as that'll have the master for the central locking, and probably a control for both the driver side, and passengers side electric windows.
Unfortunately at the moment it seems the Kia's aren't "popular" enough for the likes of Haynes to do a manual (I've been looking for one for my Rio for years, the closest i've found is a garage manual for the US version).0 -
Part way there with my problem. The rear door is now fixed. By lifting the rear seat I was able to get a drill screwdriver bit into the door skin fixing screw, then using a small spanner on the screwdriver bit, eventually got the screw out and was able to pop the skin off.
I was then able to open the door lock by hand from within the door and get the child lock off. The cause of the problem was the lever mechanism had snapped within the door. Checking e-bay a new handle was going to be £40, so out came the tools & epoxy glue. I drilled, glued & pinned the lever together again and hey presto!!! I've now got a working door handle again. Just a pity epxoy glue can't fix the electric window problemMy £2 savings total for 2007 = £92, for 2008 = £124

I did EXACTLY the same for the same issue when we had a Carens it seemed to be caused by kids yanking on the handle just as I was unlocking it, seems to cause a mechanical collision and breaks. After 2x the kids were not allowed to touch the doors until I said it was OK.
I also glued and pinned but they didn't last long, just too much stress. I just ordered new handles from the dealers, took a while to get. Was a while ago so can't remember but I don't think they were as much as £40 and it was easy to swap the chrome mechanism over to the original painted backplate (the new one just came in primer).
The Front window drive on the Carens are weak due to the windows size, I found if you wound a windows down at high speed it wouldn't go back up until you slowed down due to the huge wind pressure! Are there more fuses in the engine bay you could check?
This is from my photo archive, took trying to work out on the dealers parts computer exactly what I needed. You need to order a left or right side one as they are not interchangeable.European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -
Thats the chappie. I think I've tracked the problem with the windows down to the electronic switch unit in the drivers door. So I'm currnetly on the look out for (a cheap) one of themMy £2 savings total for 2007 = £92, for 2008 = £124
