I wanted to find some advise with regards a small business idea that i have regarding importing specialist oils and vinegars from abroad, but i also need advise on finding small, quality suppliers.
This maybe a pie in the sky idea but it is something i want to explore but have no idea where to start, can any one advise?
hope this is in the right forum

I have used this site importing bags from China. Checked out potential suppliers first to ensure that they were genuine - asked for references from other buyers - first transaction was a bit of a worry - wondering whether the goods would arrive - which they did. Had emails letting me
know what was happening which was very reassuring.

You probably need to do a lot of research on the web then take a road trip to the most likely areas and buy direct.
I have seen it work, a stall at a market in London was selling lovely oils, olives and vinegars from their family in Cyprus. By cutting out all the middlemen the prices were very reasonable and quality top notch. However my worry is that by the time you pay shipping fees and currency conversion your prices might have to go up.
Research the market demand first, supermarkets seem to have reduced their premium oil and vinegar range. With the usual brands always doing half price offers on olive oil I find it hard to justify a premium oil. Premium oils and vinegars are something I use sparingly, don't expect lots of repeat business. Perhaps you could add more products to broaden your range?
Good luck.0
