overpriced new car - can I make them adjust hte credit agreement?

Options
I bought a new car from my local Ford dealer today. I have signed an agreement and paid a £500 deposit based on a price quoted by them which I deemed reasonable based on other cars I had looked at. I am not able to take possession of the car until the weekend but based on the information given to me by the dealer I have been looking into insurance cover online. Details held by the insurance broker showed the engine to be 1.2l not 1.4 as the dealer had written down. I googled the Car Reg and it took me to the main ford website where the car is advertised at over £2000 less than I have just agreed to pay for it.

What I am trying to find out is where I stand now. I have printed off the page from the website and intend to ask them about it tomorrow but do I have any rights. Can I demand they reduce the price on my Finance Agreement?

You can ask, but they are under no obligation to reduce the price - however :) as the car is a 1.2 and not a 1.4 then you could back out of the deal as the car is substantially not as described, so the contract is null. Quite a good position to be in if you are looking for them to reduce the price :)

worst case is they keep the £500 and you buy it again on the £2000 less price. Your still up £1500 on the other day if you can not get out of the way the above poster suggests.

Are you sure everything on the website matches? Is it the financed price and not cash price? Does it include warranty etc? VAT?

Although i would check (as said) the engine size and that all the details match. Are you sure its the same car?

Basically all prices are "invitation to treat" and no agreement exists at that point. Does it say anywhere on the website that it is "from £xxxxx"? Or that additional fee's will apply?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
