yeah im in the same boat with hsbc now

started in may this year and had 4 letters asking for more time.

reffered it to the FOS at beginning of august

got a rejection letter this morning from hsbc, pretty much the same as the posters in this thread, i thought the letter was standardised with a few personal inputs in it

personally i thought what a waste of time and anyway i sent it to the FOS 5 weeks ago, thats just annoyed me even more now, so ive just scan the letter and forwarded it to the FOS this mornig

    Hiya

Sorry to hear that, let the fos sort it now, I'm sure they will resolve this for you.
I take it that was HSBC's final decision then?

    Good luck.

well i received this rejection letter today, which is confusing as i reffered it to the FOS 5 weeks ago??? strange cos i thought the FOS and the banks dealt directly with each other...and not me

    ah well.........

........but seen as they hadnt given me a response before i reffered it to the FOS i never got the chance to ask them if that was their final response......if u get my drift

    Hiya

Good job you made the complaint when you did then to the FOS, or these 5 weeks would have been wasted, so good on you there.;)

If they have given the final decision and enclosed the details of the FOS, then you can make a complaint to them now if you want to.

Some are known to still change the final decision with further information you may have, so if you want to ask them to reconsider you could do this and give them say a further 14 days, make them aware that if you hear nothing then by then you will make the complaint to the FOS with the evidence you have for being mis sold.

    Good luck.

I also left a post for you over at the other thread.;)

  • Hi, to the OP

I had a similar situation with HSBC but I think I probably won because I had critical illness protection and income protection with them too so the box should never have been filled in by them. Did your partner have anything else at the time?

  • Im having the same problem with HSBC, they just sent me the refusal letter saying the same gumf. however In the refusal letter they got the date wrong and said I applied for the loan in 2010, it was more like 2004!
Is it worth me writing back to them, or phoning up and raising this? shall I just go to the FOS?

    Hi there

If this wasn't the final decision then yes write back and ask them to reconsider, also make a point of their mistake on the date and due to this you don't feel your complaint was invesigated properly.
I would put it into writing though and not on the telephone.

    Good luck.;)

  • HI folks,

Just thought I'd let you know, the FOS have written to say that
"HSBC would like to make an offer as a gesture of goodwill with no admission of liability to settle the complaint"

I seem to have received some standard letter with guidelines on how to work out the amount i'm entitled to - it all looks very complicated so I'm off to look around on these boards to see if anyone can help.

Just wanted to let you know the good news, and for those of you waiting, the FOS told me that HSBC have about a 4 week turnaround time for complaint resolution at the moment.
