Virgin Travel Insurance

We're about to go away for just over a week later in September. I found various deals for insurance through the link from here to Moneysupermarket and decided Virgin looked the best bet at £9.10 for the two of us.

I told the other half about it and that I was going to arrange it. Trying to be helpful, she has now gone and taken out a policy with Virgin directly with similar coverage, but at just under £25!

She just rang Virgin to try and cancel but they said we can't because the trip is less than 31 days away. Is this right? We only took it out on Thursday and I thought the standard cooling off period was 7 days?

Check the policy wording regarding the cooling off period - although usually you get 14 days cooling off, when the trip is imminent (completed within around 30 days) often there is no cooling off allowed.
