Fair charges for unit trusts?

I am considering investing a modest amount in a unit trust but have never gone down this route before.
I see that some companies (all?) charge an initial fee of around 5% and an annual fee of 1-2%.
What is considered reasonable for this type of investment?
I would probably only be looking to invest for 2-3 years.

You can go with a fund supermarket, which discounts most, if not all, of the initial cost. And reduces the AMC.
However, investing for such short periods of time is not recommended.
