Tesco Car Insurance How Are They Getting Away With It

A couple of months ago I was sitting in my car, a motorcyclist came flying past me and fell off.
I told him he should be more careful, driving so fast in a built up area was dangerous and reckless - we had a few words and that was that... or so I tought.
To my astonishment the police called on me one day stating there had been a report and they had to talk to me.
I went to the police station, the police assured me the driver of the motorcycle was at fault and the matter was closed.
There was after all two other motorists in stationary cars waiting at the zebra crossing when they motorcyclist went flying past them and through the zebra crossing, he had to break to avoid hitting a pedestrian and that's when he fell off.
In addition to the police, the insurance company sent out an accident investigator, he also confirmed the matter was for me closed as I had not been responsible and the motorcyclist was at fault.
Case closed... or so I thought...
Along came Tesco Insurance who hiked up my insurance by 30%.
I called them many times, every time they kept insisting I talk to the case worker and the case worker refused to put me through to any of his superiors, mainly he ignored me and talked over the top of me, stopping briefly for air and to tell me I would be talking to noone, but him.
He also stated it didn't matter what the police report and the accident investigator report stated, it only mattered what he, the case worked thought and for him it was easier to accept liabilty and close the case.
This has of course cost me my 3 years no claims bonus and added even more onto my insurance.
The case worker for Tesco is called Brian Wilson.
Tesco have no e-mail address on their site, no matter which number I call I am always put through to him.
It looks like he's being rewarded by other insurance companies to accept claims, as he appears to have no accountability and does what ever he wants (his words).
In my humble opinion he's either an egotistical maniac or he's taking back-handers... or both, likely the later.
I wonder how many other Tesco Insurance customers have found themselves in the same boat?
So what should I do? Should I go to the papers? Should I report it to a financial watchdog? If so which one?
Is it a criminal matter as the police have been involved and this maniac says his opinion matters more than theirs.
Any advice would be welcomed, as would any contacts with half decent journalists you may know of.
The whole country should find how how Tesco Insurance treat their customers.

I’d start by editing his name out of your post.
Then make an written official complaint to Tesco, this will force them to deal with it within a compulsory time frame (I think 8 weeks).
If you still aren’t happy once they have given you their final decision then you can refer it to the FOS0 -
Blimey, I was going to use Tesco for my next year's insurance, I won't bother now.

You'll probably find Brian Wilson is a codename that doesn't just belong to one person at TescoI was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Sure is a lot of info the OP failed to give. Who reported the "accident" to the police? If there was no exchange of info between OP and biker, how did the police ID the OP? And who told Tesco? Did the biker make a claim?42 years of experience in the insurance industry.
And nothing the industry tries do to us surprises me any more!0 -
