problem with a potterton puma80.
pilot light on but doesn't fire up for hot water or heating.
fan works, pump works

Don't know the Puma 80 but assuming there is a demand for heat, gas valve is not opening, either it's faulty or air pressure switch is faulty or control board is faulty (not putting out signal to open gas valve).
Sorry can't be more precise but take a look at forums on DIYNOT for loads of boiler info.

We had a similar problem with a worcester boiler. It seems that it was the control board that was faulty.

we had a simular problems in my case it was the flow switches that needed replacing... Don't know if your boiler has flow switches.

I can't read the fault finder from partsarena - so I'll have a look to see if I have a log book for the puma tomorrow.

The gas valve is opening for the pilot, is the low pressure led on?

it's the 100 model but the fault finder is similar to the 80 and 80e

i've found that the modualtion boards on puma's are notorious for shorting out in the top left corner.

If it is the board thats shorting out on the metal casing, its about a 20min job for someone to replace (i replaced one only yesterday!)
