Rim Vs Euro Cylinder

Whats the difference and is one better than the other? My current door has a Rim cylinder lock im looking to replace. The lock i want comes in Rim and Euro flavours.
Buying a rim would mean it'd fit the door straight away but is the euro cylinder better and worth the hassle of cutting the door?

No real difference, except that a cylinder rim can be auto-latching/deadlocking, so does not need a key turn to secure the door shut - but sometimes that may be what tyou don't want ... ie being locked out when the door slams0
