Christmas Markets

Hi,

I went to a Christmas Market last year in Bruges and it was excellent! Popped to the one in Brussels on the way back and thought it was pretty poor.

Looking to go to a different one this year, has anyone got any good suggestions??

Cologne is good, Hannover as well.

Some places don't have much to do on a Sunday.

Ulm has a small one, flights to Memmingen on ryanair and then bus/train.

I would love to do one of the Christmas markets in Germany but not sure the best way to go about it as in which airline/airport/accommodation etc, so will watch this thread carefully for any ideas or advice going.

    You could try Strasbourg

Good place to visit any time of the year.

We actually drive to Cologne. Train over to France (using clubcard vouchers) and then its the same road nearly all the way.

I quite liked the look of Cologne. We thought of going for 2 days maybe Friday and Saturday and coming back on Sunday. DD is learning German so thought it might giver a bit of insight.

Some Accor hotels in Cologne can be good value at the weekend.

Another vote for Cologne, it is a beautiful place and the markets are laid out so you can easily walk between them (one may be a little far to walk, but worth going to as it is next to the Lindt Chocolate Museum!).
    Gone ... or have I?
