Protecting our mortgage payments

Me and my partner are first time buyers and have just made an offer and going through the process of buying our first home. We are both in full time employment in secure jobs. However, in this current climate what job is secure! Can anyone recommend a policy that we can take out to help pay for our mortgage payments should one of us be made redundant?

You need to look for mortgage protection insurance - start by doing an internet search (and I'm pretty sure there's an article by Martin about it somewhere). But it is expensive, and different policies have very different terms & conditions & cover, so do your research.0

Thank you all for your advice. Ive had a look at some policies and they are about £50 pm. I think we would be better off saving this ourselves in a rainy day pot. Thank you again0
