Well, we are all human laney. I can remember (guiltily) resenting getting up for the 4th time in the night when poor old Lucy was wandering around even though I loved her to bits. Also, if you have young kids, they knacker you anyway.
This poor lad needs to see another vet if yours isnt helping.0 -
I am sure you would mention lack of sleep if you had 1 year old twins like me

Hi Susieanne
Sounds like your dog is going through the same stage of life as my old boy. He’s a lab-cross, 16 years old, covered in fatty lumps, deaf, drinking loads, poo-ing in the house (when left alone) and panting all over the house. He’s also nipping the fur out of one leg!
The panting and nipping I’ve put down to the fact that three out of four people in our house are away at the moment and he gets very anxious.
Other than all those probs, he’s very active and glossy and full of fun!
I might get drummed out of MSE for this, but because of the nipping, I have been giving him anti-histamine tablets (one a day) and this seems also to make him a bit sleepy. Have you thought that maybe your dogs body clock is a bit out and he doesn’t realise that he’s supposed to be asleep at 3.30am?0 -

Sorry to hear about your dog, but please consider changing vets.
My dog was panting and pacing around the house, took an MRI scan and fluid from his brain to find out he had meningitis, thankfully, I had insurance :j and he recovered.Be happy, it's the greatest wealth0 -

Do you have an insect nest or a mouse nest in the walls? My girls did this at the skirting boards and it turned out to be a nest of flying ants under the kitchen floor, we only knew when we came back to a kitchen full of them one day!
the dogs can often hear them moving about and it may well be he is trying to protect you whilst you are all asleep.
