hiya ,the story is I bought a cnc machine (engineering cutting machine) from a school the program that runs the machine is on a floppy disc and windows 95 (yes really it is that old ) .
Is there any way that the program can be put onto disc and work on vista or even any faster running windows system .
Any help would be much appreciated many thanks .

you can still get floppy disc drives for modern pcs. You might find an external drive but it isnt difficult to install one inside a tower anyway if you can only find internal versions.
I think the only thing you can do is buy one and try to run the program in compatability mode.0 -
Hi,
your local library cyber centre might have an external floppy drive, (mine still does) that connects via usb, you could then copy to disc.0 -
If you really can't find an old PC to pull one out of you can get a new floppy drive for about £10 with a bit of googling.
Does the program need to be 'installed' ?
if it just runs directly from an executable file thats nice and simple copy it from the disk onto your hard drive in vista and run in compatibility mode (try a few, not necessarily just win95)
if it needs installing old Win95 type programs didn;t tend to integrate themselves much into windows so you you have a couple of options:
-Try to install from the disk using compatibility mode
-Install onto a machine running an older version of windows (eg 95). then grab the program in its installed state, copy that over and try running in compatibility mode on your new machine.
Finally another option is a bit of googliong of the program or cutting tool name/model number to see if anyone else has the same machine and has worked out how to do it and/or contact the manufacturer.0 -
thanks guys ,we know have it running but when we try to send the program to the machine it is telling us that there is a password on it ,obviously with the schools being closed at the min we dont have the password is there any way to by pass this it's getting frustrating now . thanks again0

I still use floppies and windows 95 with CNC machines.
You can get floppy to usb drives from places like maplin.
How are you connecting the pc to the CNC machine?
The file should be just a text file which you need to send to the CNC machine for it to load.0
