Staysure insurance

Morning to anyone reading:)
Anyone got any comments about Staysure for travel insurance?
I usually go with one of the big name companies but they seem very dear this year - I have medical conditions that have to be notified to them which usually means the amount when I do it on the internet goes up when I have to ring them.
Someone recommened this company to me and the rate comes out much more reasonable.
This friend hasn't had to make a claim though so I don't know if they are good when it comes to this side of things.
Any thoughts???
Got to go to work now but will check back at lunch time if I can.

BE VERY VERY CAREFUL !!
We recently took out holiday travel insurance and only when we had to cancel for medical reasons did it become apparent that we were not covered for cancellation cover as this was an additional option. I have never heard of a travel insurance that did not include cancellation cover but theirs did.
Not only that when we came to claim we were told to get a doctors certificate (at the cost of £23) only then to be told we were not covered for cancellation!!!!!!!!!!!!
It may be cheap but plays fast and loose with the small print and is the sort of company that brings holiday insurance companies into disrepute.0 -
Almost a year later but I will add my 10p worth.
I went on holiday to Thailand in November and managed to have to go to hospital as an outpatient for several days.
Staysure by-pass any claims and they are handled by a company called Travel claims Services, this company were very quick to send out the claims forms etc but..
I had to spend £25 for a Doctors letter and the company are looking to hide behind small print at the moment, I do not want to be too specific at the moment in case it may prejudice my case.
If they do not pay out on a bona fide genuine claim watch this space, for starters.:D0 -
Hmmmm...
I will be watching this thread with interest. My daughter uses Staysure as she has had a lot of surgery, but has never had to claim so far.0 -
just talking about this with a friend today. She had taken out insurance with Staysure for her recent trip to South Africa with her husband. A few days after buying the policy, they had a call from Staysure who were "just checking" that they were aware that there was no cancellation cover, but it could be purchased for an additional £46 each!
They pointed out that this was in the small print - well, surely they should be much more up-front about it? My friends decided to keep the policy but not to pay the additional premium, but they won't be using Staysure again.0 -
Last year just before renewal date with another compan, I shopped around a bit and then I took out Staysure's annual policy with medical conditions covered. However then got renewal from existing insurer which was a good bit cheaper (and better by the sound of things) so cancelled the SS.

It is about 3 weeks since I replied to Travel Claims Services and I have heard nothing.
I am not sure whether to chase them up or give the company a little more time.
It was at the back of my mind that as I have heard nothing to the contrary then my claim could be going through and that their accounts dept send out cheques at the end of a month.
Maybe if I have heard nothing after 28 days then I will contact them, whatever, it is not very good customer service.0 -
Good News, today I recieved a cheque from Travel Claims Services.
My initial claim is minus £65 excess, £25 Doctors report and the exchange rate favours the company very much.
At least it has been settled, so Staysure should be OK to use in the future, just remember that in the event of claiming there are excess's and doctors fees to factor in.0
