Could anyone help with this.
I am quite used to copying formulae , dates and number patterns in Excel. However, I would like to repeat a pattern of cells. Eg D1,D5,D9,D13 ie every 4th cell in row D after DI. But if I try to pick up this pattern, the pattern does not continue ie D17,D21 etc. The pattern jusy reverts back to D1.
Thanks

if you have nothing in D2-d3, drag the corner of D1 down the columnEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0

Further information to above
Column D is full of data that repeats a set of 8 different parameters. The repeat occurs 120 times. So D1 = parameter 1 result 1, D9 = parameter 1 result 2 etc. So I need to pull all the parameter 1 results into the same row. Then move onto parameter 2 (starts D2). Hopefully, (if you have not fallen asleep or been really confused) you can now see why i would like to be able to pick up D1,D9,D17 etc, without doing 120 = cell (x).
If there are no replys I would fully understand:rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Can't think of a clever way of doing it. However, if you create the first row, then copy and paste into the second row. Then copy both rows including the space in between (if there is one) and paste. Then copy the whole pattern above and paste and repeat, after a few copies and pastes, you are duplicating big chunks and will have the whole thing done in no time.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0

When you say column D is full of 8 different parameters that repeat, do you mean D1 and D9 are the same, D2 and D10 are the same, etc?
If this is the case, fill in D1-8 with your repeating parameters, highlight them all, copy them, press CTRL + [down arrow] to take you to the last filled cell in D, then down arrow again to take you to the first empty cell (DON'T hold down CTRL otherwise you will end up at the bottom cell of column D!!), then CTRL + V to paste and finally repeat the CTRL down and down again and paste 120 times until you are all done.
Otherwise, it sounds like you would need a macro to do what you want.0
