Car Insurance for young drivers

Okay, so I have recently passed my driving test  and am looking around for some car insurance, but am scared about the prices!

I am 19 years old, male (yes yes, the worst possible catagory to be in). I work as a Claims Advisor (my insurance company dosent insure people under 21)

I have a 2001 1.0 Vauxhall Corsa, I don't use the car for travelling to work, it is purely for social purposes, it is parked in a residential car park during the day and at night.

The cheapest I have saw so far is around £1700 per year.

Does anyone have any hints and tips on how to get cheaper car insurance for my age?

TBH that quote isn't too bad.

Try DirectLine and Admiral. They are who I got cheapest with.

If you could wait until then you would probably get a much cheaper premium.

Try adding a parent or two as additional drivers, also look at comprehensive cover

    Avoid Quinn

When I passed my test when I was 18 my insurance was £1700 on a 1998 Peugeot 106 1.1 with Quinn.
My renewal came back at £1100 (1yrs NCB) but Quinn had gone into administration and wasn't in a position to renew. I sold the Peugeot and started driving a Renault 4 (1.1l) with a £900 premium.
I got quotes for an Alfa Romeo GTV 2.0 which came back at around £1100. Amazing what a years NCB can do for you.

Like you, I am male and 19 so in the highest risk category.
