as long as the contents are perfect. Whats more important to me and I would of thought many consumers is that you are able to return items that don't suit you or aren't 100% as described.

Consumer and retail law does not work like that though, unless the items are faulty, then you have no recourse to take them back and get a refund, any store that does, is going above and beyond what they need to.

And yes, I would like the packaging to be in perfect condition, I do not want to purchase an item that someone has taken out of the box, assembled and then had it blown over in the wind, if I am paying for new, then I expect new, and a factory sealed box assures me that it is.

And as someone has pointed out, the gazebo is as described, is it actually described anywhere as being windproof? or suitable for use as a wind break?

If your not 100% sure about something your buying from somewhere like Argos, its a good idea to order it from their website so you are covered by the distance selling act.

this gives you the option to return it without reason as long as its in good condition

Firstly I WORK FOR ARGOS 2nd i disagree with the op and 3rd i am and always will be a genuine mse'r

Argos have a fantastic returns policy throughout there stores and a lot of people take advantage of this..

Its up to the buyer to check out the details in the catalouge or online lots of people give opionions online some good some bad.

No store needs to take anything back if its wrong colour wrong size to big to small etc etc but argos are great at taking things back as long as its in the original packaging and resaleable..

I have bought things from stores and got home and found it no good for what i thought and got angry with myself and like op prop tried to return it sometimes got away with it.

just sell it on and put down to experience..

IF the gazebo cannot stand up to the wind, they asda shouldnt be selling it, just another example of a big firm taking advantage

Where does Asda enter into this problem?

Argos I take it you meant?

If you want a gazebo that stands in the 'high' winds then you have to pay more fo a better gazebo, one that is good for calm summer nights with a light breeze to normal standards of wind then the cheaper one will do the job.

you get what you pay for

Ive stopped purchasing from argos due to there poor refunds policy. Argos policy is far from fantastic

2 Years ago I bought a panel heater for my attic upstairs, after 2 days it was obvious it was not powerful enough so I returned it. I was told I cannot get a refund as it is not faulty and it had been opened. My argument was that you don't know if the heater would be powerful enough until you try it. Long story short I changed my story and lied and said that it was faulty and would randomly turn off just to get my money back. Went to costco that day and got an oil heater and not had a problem since. I've never been back to Argos as I can usually find a cheaper/better product from the likes of Tesco Direct and If I'm not 100% happy I know I can return the product.

Damn those big firms taking advantage *shakes fist* I bought a hat, and my feet still got wet!

I guess next time I should buy something designed for the purpose I want it for.
