MSN Problem :S

When I start my computer, MSN messenger opens up automatically as I requested it to. However, when I press the X in the right hand corner of the window, it minimises and I cannot see the MSN man near the clock, however, I know I am logged in as it shows me when contacts sign online and also when I open a new messenger window it says you have been signed onto another computer. I am running Messenger 7.5 on WinXP Pro SP2 integrated if that is of any help.

  • Would you like it to not load automatically at startup? If not, go into MSN, goto Tools - Options - General and untick automatically load MSN on windows startup. If you still want it to load but want to shut it, the man doesn't actually dissapear you just think it does because the system tray (the bit in the bottom right hand corner) likes to shorten itself. You see the left pointing arrow between your windows at the bottom and your system tray? Click that, you can see the MSN icon - then simply right click it and hit exit/quit!
  • Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry let me clarify, The opening with Windows is fine but, the MSN man dissapears. I have expanded the system tray and still cannot see the msn man.

I think Windows messenger is logging you out (as opposed to MSN messenger)...look for the folder just called "messenger" under program files and just rename the msmsgs file to something else..msmsgs2 ??

  • It only logs me out when I open another MSN Messenger and sign in again, but as the original MSN messenger box is already open, just missing from the system tray, it says its been signed in on another computer. Does that make sense or have I confused everyone?
